The Moat™ on The Plank™
Catching the juicy goodness from your resting feast… mmmmm. The Moat™ an optional groove around the edge of your board, has been designed for two reasons; Stop juices from spilling over to your bench top and to catch the juicy goodness to use as a jus accompanying your feast.
Non-slip Feet for Serious Chopping
All our chopping boards include non-slip feet, making the boards sturdy and safe on your bench top or table and therefore capable of some serious chopping. The feet also make it easy for you to get your fingers underneath and in turn easier to pick up and put down if required. Allows for a bit of airflow too.
Our Story
The Plank™ was founded in 2022 by year 12 Hawera High School students as part of the NCEA level 2 Young Enterprise Scheme.
The concept originated from a need to acquire a suitable cutting board to slice big portions of food or meat. Tired of using small cutting boards that couldn’t accommodate sizable cuts like half a sheep or a brisket, and frustrated with boards made from hardwood or unsustainable plastic that dulled knives rapidly, the realisation dawned to initiate a business that produces big, thick, robust, eco-friendly, and high-quality cutting boards.
The Plank™ is now solely owned and run by Jacob McCrea, a year 13 student studying for NCEA level 3 at Te Paepae o Aotea (formerly Hawera High School).
The Plank™ is more than just a chopping board. It's a showpiece to prepare and serve food on. Something you can keep out on your bench for everyone to see. It's almost like a piece of furniture.
